Querent BEWARE! Fortune-Teller Gets 18 Months For Tricking Clients
The fraud of some gives all the other fortunetellers and tarot readers a bad name.
The "you're cursed because of the broken egg trick" is not a new con.
(AP) ROCKVILLE, Md. "A fortune-teller now sees her future -- and it involves 18 months behind bars.
Grace Uwanawich, also known as 'Mrs. Grace,' was sentenced this week in Maryland after admitting that she defrauded clients by convincing them to hand over tens of thousands of dollars so that she could crush destructive curses.
'This is beyond fortune-telling for entertainment purposes,' Montgomery Assistant State's Attorney Carol Crawford said Monday. She compared Uwanawich to a 'leech' who drained money from vulnerable middle-aged women.
Their relationship began at a shopping mall, when Uwanawich approached the woman, who was depressed, and handed her a flier promoting her psychic powers.
During meetings at Uwanawich's Chevy Chase apartment, the woman was told that she and her family had a curse..."
Just because the fortuneteller predicts a negative situation doesn't necessarily mean that the reading is fraudulent. Tarot can help people to get out of gordian knots in terms of decision planning but if the reader demands an exorbitant sum of money within a short time frame then watch out! This is probably a con artist, not an honest reader.
Grace Uwanawich had been arrested during the 1990s for similar scams. In this case she took from one woman "more than $160,000 in cash and property over the course of a year." Stop before you start with a situation like this!
Uwanawich maxed out the woman's credit cards and wiped out her bank account.
The minute the "fortuneteller" does the hairy spider in an egg trick or any egg trick, remember that's not reading cards, that's not crystal ball gazing or any other legitimate way of reading or "divining the future for entertainment"--get away from the con artist immediately!!!
