Eris to Trump Pluto?
Will Eris Influence Astrological Readings?

Current events are tough on astrologers. How should astrologers respond to articles such as this one: "Pluto moves farther down the chain of planets"?

The former ninth planet was demoted yet again Thursday when scientists determined it no longer even reigns as king of the dwarf planets, a sub-class astronomers relegated Pluto to last summer after deeming it unworthy of standing alongside Earth, Jupiter and other larger bodies.

The bigger dwarf planet, Eris, is 27 percent more massive than Pluto, California Institute of Technology scientists reported in the journal Science.

So what are the implications of the astrological influences of Pluto?
After all, Pluto is the primary ruler of the astrological sign Scorpio.
Pluto is the co-ruler of Aries and is exalted in Leo.

No wonder the International Astronomical Union voiced concern last summer in Prague.

The wet planet: There was life on Mars (probably)

Scientists now say that an ocean several miles deep once covered a third of the surface of the planet, enough water to support the origin and evolution of life. The red planet, they said, had once been a deep blue, just like Earth.
Forget the panic that ensued after Orson Welles's famous radio broadcast of H G Wells' classic, The War of the Worlds, no one is worried by the prospect of a Martian attack but what people should worry about is that Mars might have been like the earth in terms of the water supply.

The true nature of Mars, however, emerged in the late 1960s when the Mariner space missions paid the first visits to Earth's smaller neighbour. Mars turned out to be heavily cratered, dotted with extinct volcanoes, colder than Antarctica and, crucially, drier than the Atacama desert - the driest place on Earth.
Mars was a dead place, a desiccated wasteland sterilised by harsh solar radiation...
Let's hope that Earth will not be subjected to a radiation (nuclear or otherwise) that would render desolation.

Querent BEWARE! Fortune-Teller Gets 18 Months For Tricking Clients

The fraud of some gives all the other fortunetellers and tarot readers a bad name.
The "you're cursed because of the broken egg trick" is not a new con.

(AP) ROCKVILLE, Md. "A fortune-teller now sees her future -- and it involves 18 months behind bars.

Grace Uwanawich, also known as 'Mrs. Grace,' was sentenced this week in Maryland after admitting that she defrauded clients by convincing them to hand over tens of thousands of dollars so that she could crush destructive curses.

'This is beyond fortune-telling for entertainment purposes,' Montgomery Assistant State's Attorney Carol Crawford said Monday. She compared Uwanawich to a 'leech' who drained money from vulnerable middle-aged women.

Their relationship began at a shopping mall, when Uwanawich approached the woman, who was depressed, and handed her a flier promoting her psychic powers.

During meetings at Uwanawich's Chevy Chase apartment, the woman was told that she and her family had a curse..."

Just because the fortuneteller predicts a negative situation doesn't necessarily mean that the reading is fraudulent. Tarot can help people to get out of gordian knots in terms of decision planning but if the reader demands an exorbitant sum of money within a short time frame then watch out! This is probably a con artist, not an honest reader.

Grace Uwanawich had been arrested during the 1990s for similar scams. In this case she took from one woman "more than $160,000 in cash and property over the course of a year." Stop before you start with a situation like this!
Uwanawich maxed out the woman's credit cards and wiped out her bank account.

The minute the "fortuneteller" does the hairy spider in an egg trick or any egg trick, remember that's not reading cards, that's not crystal ball gazing or any other legitimate way of reading or "divining the future for entertainment"--get away from the con artist immediately!!!

A fortune teller predicted my lottery jackpot

Gee, fortunetellers are great! See the testimony for a prediction that came through:

A fortune teller predicted a "substantial" win for a couple who scooped more than £1.6 million in the National Lottery, the pair revealed today.
Janette Wright, 41, and husband Stephen, 48, from Bradford, won the £1,633,505 Lotto jackpot in the draw on Saturday.

Mrs Wright, a housing officer, said: "I had a tarot card reading about seven or eight years ago and the tarot reader told me one day I would win 'a substantial amount of money which will be shared'...

Good fortune for tellers approved

SALISBURY — "The crystal ball and tarot cards may have showed the positive results for Nick Nicholas Tuesday after Wicomico County Attorney Ed Baker announced that there are no residency requirements for a fortune teller license that had initially barred him from starting a business in Hebron."

Nick had gotten the bump due to a 5 year residency requirement (he had only lived there a year). The attorney sought a waiver and the license is expected to go through.

Grease can sabotage your diet

Think about it, can something that can fuel cars be good for your body?

Kentucky Fried Chicken, other restaurants, cafeterias, and supermarkets are selling their leftover French Fry grease to a California biodiesel company, Energy Alternative Solutions, Inc. The leftover French Fries grease will become fuel for diesel vehicles in Northern California.

Think about it: how healthy is food deep fried in that grease for your body?
At least a source of alternative fuel has been discovered.

I don't want to touch the tarot on this issue

Some people have been curious about the possibility that tarot card readings might reveal the whereabouts and/or the future of Madeleine McCann.
Rhianna does not plan to touch the tarot on the topic of Madeleine's abduction, the topic is too heart breaking.

The latest news focuses on an anonymous letter and map to a Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf, that hints to a possible burial point 20 km (13 miles) north of the resort where Madeleine McCann was abducted. The Portuguese police are searching the area. A similar letter and map last year lead to the bodies of two missing Belgian girls, so this news might lead to the final bad news but nothing has been proven yet, Madeleine is still missing and there is still a hope that she is alive but the chances of that are getting slimmer with every passing day.

Meanwhile hundreds of toys and yellow ribbons were placed in Madeleine's honor at the war memorial in the village of Rothley, in Leicestershire; these toys will promptly be cleared away and distributed to other children.

Astronomer traces Zodiac's time and place of birth

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/06/04/zodiac_horoscope

"Calculating its horoscope any minute now" -- Rhianna loves the wit of The Register®

"An astronomer has traced the origins of the earliest known descriptions of what would become the constellations of today's Zodiac to the region which once held the Assyrian cities of Ninova and Asur.

The descriptions, which include more than 200 astronomical observations, are written in cuneiform on a collection of clay tablets, known as MUL.APIN. The tablets are known to have been made in Babylon in around 687 BC, but archaeologists believe they are only transcriptions of much earlier records."

Cool, people have been star gazing since earliest times!
Check out a picture of the tablets at nature.com here
