BostonHerald.com - Business: Networks commit to carrying all debates
" More than 45,000 of the group's members signed petition letters urging the networks to air the debates. ABC, CBS and NBC have pledged to air the three presidential debates Sept. 30, Oct. 8 and Oct. 13, along with the vice presidential debate Oct. 5. NBC will switch``The Apprentice'' to Wednesday from Thursday to accommodate one debate.
The Fox broadcast network, however, has agreed to air just two. Fox will forgo the Oct. 13 debate at Arizona State University and the vice presidential debate at Case Western University in Cleveland in favor of Major League Baseball playoffs.

Millions of Americans who don't get cable will rely on the broadcast networks and their local affiliated stations to view the debates.
Media For Democracy, a project run by MediaChannel.org, points to dwindling election coverage over the last 20 years, and says the networks are shirking their public service responsibilities."
